2022 Range Rover Sport vs. 2021 BMW X6: Real SUV Versatility and Power
June 11 2021,
The Range Rover Sport is taking on the 2022 model year with a generous selection of models and powertrains. This enables more customization options that create the right model. The Sport also doesn't forget to include Land Rover DNA with a modern look and capabilities that go beyond paved roads.
Here, we compare the 2022 Range Rover Sport to the 2021 BMW X6.
The 2022 Range Rover Sport offers more models and powertrains
The Sport offers seven grades that beat the BMW X6 in model selection. Four available powertrains range from robust output to exhilaration. The P360 3.0L V6 MHEV produces 360 horsepower and 365 lb-ft of torque in the SE and HSE Silver models. When a little more boost is needed, the HST’s P400 3.0L V6 MHEV tops off with 395 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque. The BMW X6 xDrive40i also includes a turbocharged 3.0L V6, but it stays behind with 335 horsepower and 331 lb-ft of torque.
The Range Rover Sport charges towards high performance with a 5.0-litre eight-cylinder supercharged powerhouse. It generates 518 hp and 461 lb-ft of torque in the HSE Dynamic and Autobiography Dynamic grades. However, the Sport goes even further. The SVR and SVR Carbon Edition also feature a 5.0-litre eight-cylinder supercharged engine that outputs 575 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque.
The X6 also offers the M50i, which produces 523 horsepower. The X6 M includes more power, but there are drawbacks, and much less off-road character.
The 2022 Range Rover Sport shows true SUV versatility
The Range Rover Sport has a solid advantage in rear passenger comfort, including more leg, shoulder, and head room than the X6. The reduced roofline over the X6's rear section affects available room for rear occupants. The Sport also takes passenger capability further by offering third-row seats. It is physically impossible for the X6 to offer such an option.
The Sport goes further by designing a safe wading depth so you can enjoy more areas without worrying about shallow crossings. The Range Rover Sport also has more off-road features like a twin-speed transfer case and low traction launch function.
